Team Travel Policy

Certain meets/camps on the LSC calendar will be designated as “Team Travel.” This means that the team will travel and stay together for the duration of the event. Team travel is a valuable experience for an athlete, and an important part of building a professional and team-oriented culture.

Prior to team travel events, a flyer will be sent out with details on dates, location, transportation, accommodations, staffing (including chaperones), and cost. Decisions regarding the above are made by LSC. Rooming assignments are made by the coaching staff.

If a swimmer commits to a team travel event, they must travel, stay, and eat with the team. They may not travel or stay separately with family or make alternate accommodation or meal arrangements. The family may travel separately if they wish to watch the meet. Minimal interaction between the swimmer and their family is permitted should the family choose to attend, but the swimmer may not remain off the deck with their family for any extended period of time. This stipulation is in place to help to maintain team cohesiveness and a professional atmosphere as mentioned above.

If a swimmer finishes their racing (including all individual events and relays) prior to the end of a team travel meet, they may leave with a parent or designated guardian, only if an early release form has been signed and submitted to the lead coach on the trip and the lead chaperone.

The Head Coach may determine that aspects of this policy apply to a given team travel event on a modified basis. Any modifications would be available equally to all swimmers attending the event.
